Born on March 15, 1935, in Stephenville, Texas, Wanda spent her life rooted in Odessa, Texas, where she built not only her career but also her family legacy.

A proud graduate of Permian High School, Wanda dedicated her professional life to Bearing Supply Co., where she was both employed and eventually retired. Her work was but a small part of a multifaceted individual known not only for her industriousness but also her vivacious spirit and love for adventure.

Wanda was the third oldest of seven children, a role she embraced with love and responsibility. Memories flourish of her traveling to far-off exotic lands, a passion that opened her eyes and heart to the wonders of the world. Among her treasured experiences, traveling to Egypt stood out as a pinnacle achievement. Wanda's zest for life included enjoying delectable Mexican food from "Rosas" in Odessa, always with her favorite color, Midnight Blue, accentuating her vibrant personality.

Her passion extended beyond personal adventures; Wanda took part in significant Civil Rights events, reflecting her commitment to justice and equality, causes that resonated deeply within her. She adored her family with every ounce of her being, cherishing the relationships she nurtured throughout her lifetime.

Wanda leaves behind a loving family, including her granddaughter, Wendy Martin and husband Louis, her sons Aiden, Keegan, Leo, and Johnny, along with many nieces and nephews who felt her boundless affection. They will carry forward the warmth of her legacy, as will the memories of those who gathered around her spirited tales from her travels and experiences.

Wanda now reunites in rest with her deceased family members, including her parents, Bonnie and Talmage Branson Lay, her children, Johnnie Weast and Cynthia Young, and her siblings, T.B, Billie Jane, Peggy Jo, Martha, and Willie. Each of these relationships was a vital thread in the rich tapestry of her life.
