Emblem

Ted Allen McLaughlin, born on July 20, 1944, in Bakersfield, California, departed from our world on September 26, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona. A true embodiment of loyalty and humor, Ted dedicated 27 years of his life to Gila Feed Yards in Gila Bend, Arizona, followed by 17 fulfilling years at Boulders Resort in Carefree, Arizona. His commitment to his work was only rivaled by his dedication to the people he loved and the laughter he brought into their lives.

Ted was known to those who knew him to be a real jokester, a man whose laughter echoed through the hearts of friends and family alike. His spirit was one of love and joy, lighting up every room he entered. He cherished the great outdoors, finding solace and adventure in fishing, hiking, and enjoying the thrill of slot machines at casinos. Whether he was savoring a well-cooked steak dinner or indulging in his favorite Mexican food, his zest for life was apparent in every moment.

On a beautiful Saturday, September 10, 1983, Ted married his beloved wife, Cindy Cates, in Gila Bend, Arizona. Together, they shared a profound bond that lasted an incredible 42 years, creating a lifetime of memories that will be cherished by those who remain.

Ted leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly. His beautiful wife Cindy, brothers Richard and Bob, and sister Judy will carry his spirit within them as they navigate the days ahead. He was a proud father to Tammy, Rick, and Charles, who will hold tight to the lessons he instilled in them. The joy in Ted’s life was magnified by his eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who brought him immense happiness and pride.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Betty McLaughlin, who can now embrace him in eternal peace.

As we remember Ted, let us celebrate the gift of laughter, the beauty of the outdoors, and the warmth of family he cherished so deeply. A gravestone will mark his final resting place at Hazelton Memorial Cemetery in Buckeye, Arizona, where a graveside service will take place on October 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Following the graveside service, a Celebration of Life will be held at Friendship Park in Avondale, Arizona, on October 12, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. It is there that family and friends will gather to reminisce, share stories, and shine the light of Ted’s joyful spirit.
