Sharon Chloe Donnafield (Martin), 83, passed away on Wednesday August 30th 2023. She was surrounded by family and had her daughter Misty at her side.
Sharon was born August 26th, 1940 in Phoenix Arizona. She was a third generation Arizonan. She was the first born of three girls to Otis Martin and Eva (Amator). She grew up on 115th Ave.(Avondale blvd) Just south of Southern. They lived in a one room house, with a screened in porch where the family slept. They had all kinds of animals, and weren’t far from Grandma and Grandpa Amator, the dairy, and all of her cousins. She loved to reminisce of playing hide-n-seek in her grandma’s cellar. She loved living a more simple life and often wished she could go back. Minus the outhouse. They had no running water or electricity, until they moved in 1953 when her mom helped build the family a new house, just a few miles down the road in what is now Cashion.
Sharon worked the carrot sheds in high school with her friends and cousins. She graduated from Tolleson High School in 1958. After high school, she worked as a Secretary to the Superintendent at Littleton School in Cashion and then for the Arizona Racing Commission providing licensing for horse jockeys.
She had two children. A daughter Misty, and a son Jeramy. Sharon loved being a mom, and prided herself on taking care of people. She later raised her three grandchildren in Avondale, where she stayed for the next thirty years. She volunteered in the classroom for many of her grandkids teachers in the Avondale School District for many years.
She enjoyed going shopping with her mom, almost daily. They loved browsing good finds at Big Lots, and Factory 2 U. And on special occasions, they would enjoy going to the casino together for nickel slots and lunch.
In 2020, Sharon uprooted from Avondale after spending 80 years in the area. She bought a house in Wickenburg, and enjoyed less traffic, and smaller crowds. She loved taking care of her new yard full of flowers, feeding her birds each afternoon, and going thrifting at local shops. It was the little things in life that brought her the most joy.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Otis Martin and Eva (Amator), her sister Linda Johnson, and her son Jeramy Donnafield. She is survived by her sister Starlett Weltzin (Steve), her daughter Misty Taylor, her grandsons Cody and Casey Donnafield, granddaughter Chloe Kendall (Johnathon) and her six great-grandchildren.
