Rudy Gallegos, a respected and cherished member of the Phoenix community, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on January 21, 1951, Rudy lived his life in the city of Phoenix, where he became known not only for his skills as a professional window installer and technician but also for his warm personality and deep commitment to those around him.
Rudy was proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps, a testament to his understanding that every young man owed a service to his country. He embraced this duty with honor, demonstrating the values of dedication and responsibility throughout his life.
Growing up in Phoenix, he received his education from "the school of life," which helped shape him into the laid-back and understanding individual that friends and family came to love. Rudy was a good listener who enjoyed spending time with others, often engaging in memories filled with laughter and joy. He found particular happiness in cruising South Central to the ramadas in South Mountain Park on Saturday nights alongside his friends. His fondness for oldies music often led him to the enjoyment of lowrider car shows, where he listened to these classic tunes with his homies tipping back a cold one.
Rudy is survived by his beloved son, Rudy Gallegos Jr., and his daughters, Jeanette Gallegos, Sarita Gallegos, and Gloria Gallegos-Lopez. He was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren: Josie Alvarez, Monique, Phalisia, Diamond, Rudi Ann Gallegos, Jonathan Rocha, Rudy Gallegos III, Sandy Iriqiui, Xavier Gallegos, Serenity Gallegos, Vince, Zoe, Aaron Clark, and Gia Gallegos. Rudy also leaves behind his sister, Guadalupe Mendoza, and brothers, Jerry Fernandez, Gary, and Eddie Caldera.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Morado, and brother, Ronnie Fernandez.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 31, 2025, at Avenidas Funeral Chapel in Avondale, Arizona. The service will commence at 2:00 PM and conclude at 4:00 PM, allowing friends and family to gather and share their memories of this remarkable man.
Rudy Gallegos will be deeply missed by all who knew him—a devoted family man, a steadfast friend, and a gentle soul who lifted the spirits of those around him.
