It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Roscoe Shines, a beloved son, brother, and friend, who left this world peacefully in his sleep on September 28, 2025, in Youngtown, Arizona. Born on July 30, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, Roscoe lived a life marked by unwavering faith and dedication to those he loved.
Roscoe was a proud graduate of Manassas High School, where he laid the foundation for a life enriched with meaningful connections and cherished memories. His commitment to service was evident when he honored his country by enlisting in the United States Army, serving bravely as a veteran during the Vietnam War. His courage and selflessness left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A devoted Christian man, Roscoe’s faith guided him throughout his life. He touched the hearts of many, offering kindness and support to both friends and family in their times of need. Those who were fortunate enough to call him family include his dear siblings: Carroline Shines-Edwards, Cynthia Cranford, Wilma Shines, and Bryant Christopher Shines, his devoted caretaker who provided him with companionship and care.
He now rejoins his beloved parents, John Granderson Shines and Autrey (Powell) Shines, as well as all his siblings who have preceded him in death. Roscoe's legacy of love and faith will forever hold a cherished place in the hearts of his family and friends, as he leaves behind a tapestry of memories that will continue to inspire those who carry his spirit forward.
His warm smile, compassionate heart, and gentle spirit will be profoundly missed, but his faith assures us that he has found peace in the arms of the Lord. As we gather together to celebrate Roscoe’s remarkable life, let us remember his kindness, honor his service, and cherish the moments we shared with this extraordinary man.
