With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rosalio Fuentes Escalante, affectionately known as "Chalio," who left this world unexpectedly on June 21, 2025, in Buckeye, Arizona. Born on August 10, 1953, in the vibrant and culturally rich Puebla, Mexico, Chalio’s journey was defined by his unwavering spirit and deep-rooted love for family and community.
Chalio dedicated a significant portion of his life to the Litchfield School District, where he made his mark as a respected Groundskeeper. His hands, skilled as a full and part-time mechanic since an early age, exemplified his industrious nature and resourceful spirit. These hands also nurtured the soil, culminating in a passion that manifested in his mastery as a gardener. He understood the beauty of life in its many forms, paralleling his admiration for the majestic beauty and strength of the eagle with the quiet simplicity of the cardinal. Such reflections of nature resonated deeply within him, becoming emblematic of his vibrant personality.
In the realm of sports, Chalio was an avid fan, carrying an unyielding devotion to teams like the Arizona Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles, and San Francisco 49ers in football; and the St. Louis Cardinals and Arizona Diamondbacks in baseball. His enthusiasm was infectious and would resonate throughout his home, creating a warm atmosphere full of laughter and spirited debates. Whether he was out fishing or immersing himself in the fragrant world of his garden, Chalio found joy in the simplest of activities.
As a father and grandfather, Chalio poured his heart into his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Elvira Fuentes, and his cherished children: Francisco (Mangali) Fuentes, Jessica (Alyssa) Fuentes, Veronica (Michael) Goff, Rene Fuentes, Cindy (Manuel) Torres, and Candie (David) Robinson. He was immensely proud of his grandchildren—Karla, Jazmin, Paco, Omar, Angel, Celest, Anthony, Russell, Joel, Izzy, Nicole, Bella, Giana, Damien, and Claudia—who carry forward his legacy of competitiveness, creativity, compassion, and love.
Chalio is also survived by his esteemed parents, Francisco and Candelaria Fuentes, along with his brothers Luis, Lupe, Jorge, Paco, Raul, Mando, and Javier, and sisters Yolanda, Clara, and Rosa. The bonds formed in family gatherings and shared experiences will forever echo in their hearts, reminding them of the irreplaceable void left behind.
As we gather to honor his memory, we invite all whose lives were touched by Chalio to pay their respects during the visitation at Avenidas Funeral Chapel in Avondale, Arizona, on July 11, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Colors of blue and red, his favorites, will grace the occasion, a tribute to a soul who filled our lives with vibrancy and warmth.
Chalio's absence is felt deeply, but the memories we shared, the love he gave, and the legacy he leaves behind will continue to inspire all who knew him. His spirit, like the majestic eagle soaring through the skies, will live on in our hearts forever.
