RONALD JEAN MASTERSON

Ronald Jean Masterson passed away on May 16, 2025 in Peoria, AZ. Ronald was born on Friday, December 13, 1940 in Auburn, NY, the second child of Helen (Calarco) and Anthony Masterson. Ronnie, although challenged from birth, was able to overcome many obstacles.

Ronnie was a great chess player and attended night school for 30 years but fell just short of getting his GED. He was a devoted worker at the Shortstop Tavern where he tended bar and stocked shelves. Ronnie loved records and books and enjoyed being a patron of Seymour Library and later donated some of his collection to them. He was also a proud member of the Library of Congress. Ronnie enjoyed walking around the streets of Auburn always dressed in khaki pants and a white shirt. He was loved by his family and had many friends in the Auburn community.

In 2012, Ronnie and his sister, Carolyn, relocated from Auburn and made their home in Sun City, AZ. He is now with Carolyn, who recently passed away in February and helped care for him for many years.

Ronnie is predeceased by his parents, his sister Carolyn Mincolla and brothers-in-law Robert R. Ryan Sr. and Joseph Tremonte along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his sister, Arlene P. Ryan, nieces and nephews Kathy Ryan Rainone, Susan (Patrick) Charles, John A. Ryan, Robert R. Ryan Jr. (Lynnette), of Auburn, Jane (Eugene) Stryker of Moravia, Christopher (Cynthia) Mincolla of Waddell, AZ and a cousin Nicholas (Joan) DeAngelis of Auburn.

Graveside services will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, Auburn, NY at a date to be determined.
