It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael James Romero, a proud Marine, loving father, and cherished family member. Michael passed away on November 9, 2024, in Phoenix, AZ, at the age of 68.

Born on August 23, 1956, Michael was a charismatic and spirited man who loved connecting with people, He embraced music and laughter, finding joy in life’s simplest pleasures—especially food. Despite encountering significant health challenges in his later years, including battling throat cancer, losing his ability to speak and relishing flavors, Michael’s fighting spirit endured.

Michael proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War. He was a true American patriot and life-long Raiders fan. 

Michael is survived by his mother, Carolann; sisters and brother-in laws, Tina and Earl, Angela and Steve; his three children, Mike, Danielle, and Adrian; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, nieces and grand nephews. He shared many memorable years with the mother of his children and first wife, Michele, with whom he spent 25 years and later with Rose, to whom he was married for 20 years. He was proceeded in death by his father James S. Romero and brother Steve Vincent Romero. His family brought him immense pride and joy, and he treasured the memories they created together.

Though the last few years of his journey were marked by struggles, Michael’s charisma and love for life never faded. He would want his family and friends to remember the laughter, love, and good times they shared.

Funeral Services: Funeral services to honor Michael’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Avenidas Funeral Chapel, located at 522 E Western Ave, Avondale, AZ, with visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Following the service, Michael will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery, 719 N 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009, with the burial service beginning at 2:00 PM.

Michael’s legacy of love, resilience, and service will live on in our hearts. He gave all he could to those he held dear and will be deeply missed.
