Our hearts are heavy with the passing of our dear Mother, Mrs. Marian (Oliver) Langston. She was born August 15th 1935 and passed away unexpectedly on April 7th, 2025.
At 89 years of age, our mother was as mentally vibrant as ever, constantly researching the latest "breaking" news, sharing articles and opinions to multiple social media venues while keeping us informed daily. Having spent most of her adult life working as an administrative secretary for various doctors in the medical research field, she was extremely knowledgeable of medical terms and procedures, receiving many commendations for her contributions and expertise.
In prior years she busied herself at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio where she was a member and always quick to help out whenever needed. An avid reader and note-taker, her favorite books were anything by Max Lucado. She loved traditional gospel hymns and more recently explored country music, enjoying Willie Nelson among others.
She loved luncheons with her many friends, creating amazing expertly gift-wrapped treasures for them, shopping, cooking, crafting, sewing (she made all our clothes when we were kids), knitting, crochet, decorating and even painting murals in her home! Her favorite color was red so every Christmas came with plenty of red decorations!
While her husband Jimmy was alive they took oil painting and ceramic classes together creating many beautiful pieces of art when not traveling on their many cruises. Our mother had a beautiful, melodious singing voice and when not singing at church, she often sang while playing the piano at home which she learned to play as a young girl. Being incredibly curious and ambitious, there was nothing artistic she could not do. So much talent wrapped up into one amazing person!
After moving closer to family in Arizona she continued to putter around in the yard which she loved and sitting outside with or walking her dog. Always very social, she struck up a conversation with almost everyone she encountered. She loved all her many dogs, especially "Grayson" who crossed the Rainbow Bridge 2 years ago and has been patiently waiting for her.
Sadly, as her physical strength waned she was no longer able to do all the things she had loved over the years. Evenings of Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, watching cooking, crafting and political shows, talking on the phone to friends and social media became her interests. Going to the casino was her favorite past time, especially when she won!
Marian is survived by her son Charles (Skip) Hogg, Jr. and his wife Lisa Nguyen of California, daughters Angela Wieneke and Yvonne Kruse of Arizona, step-daughters Linda (Jimsie) Langston and Sandy Hogg Prater, step-sons Roy Hogg and Chuck Hogg (deceased) of Texas, plus numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cousins. She will Rest in Peace at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas along side her beloved husband Dr. Jimmy B. Langston who passed away in 1995. A memorial service in Texas to be determined at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in her name at your local dog rescue which she would love dearly.
