His proudest accomplishments included serving as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps as a combat engineer, during which he earned numerous military awards, including the Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Rifle Expert Badge (third award), and a Command Letter of Appreciation.

Education was an important foundation for Kevin, having completed his high school education.
