Katherine Yvonne Mendoza

Katherine Yvonne Mendoza, a beloved Domestic Engineer and cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on April 10, 2025, in Laveen, Arizona, at the age of 81. Born on March 21, 1944, in Hilo, Hawaii, Katherine was a vibrant spirit whose life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a profound passion for everything Hawaiian.

Katherine received her education from Waiakea High School, where her outgoing personality began to blossom. She carried the warmth of that Hawaiian spirit with her throughout her life, embracing the rich culture, music, and food that defined her cherished islands. Married in Hawaii, Katherine’s heart remained ever true to the Islands. Each trip she took back felt like discovering paradise all over again, igniting her soul in ways that few places could.

Known for her caring and giving nature, Katherine had a special way of making those around her feel loved and appreciated. Her fun-loving spirit brought joy and laughter to every gathering, creating memories that will be treasured forever by her family and friends. Katherine’s proudest achievement was her unwavering faith and commitment as a follower of Jesus Christ, grounding her life in spiritual purpose.

She is survived by her two beloved daughters, Colleen Rezentes and Jennifer Omija, who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Katherine adored her grandchildren — Melanie Silva, Jordan Mendoza, Christina Mendoza-Omija, Bryston Mendoza-Omija, Lehua Delacruz, Raynett Rezentes, and Pomai Rezentes — each of whom brought immense joy to her life and whom she cherished deeply.

Katherine is reunited in heaven with her husband, Roland K. Mendoza Sr., her parents Dwight and Margarete Spillman, and her brothers Ronald Kahee & Dwight C. Spillman jr. all of whom she loved dearly and missed immensely. Their memories and the love they shared comfort those left behind as they navigate the bittersweet nature of loss while celebrating Katherine’s remarkable life.

Her spirit will forever be remembered in the hearts of all those fortunate enough to know her, and her passion for life, her vibrant laughter, and her generous heart will continue to inspire everyone she touched.
