, John Timothy Wendt, a devoted husband, talented graphic designer, and esteemed veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away on April 22, 2025, at the age of 77, surrounded by family in the privacy of his home in Buckeye, Arizona. He was born on August 24, 1947, in Hollywood, California.
Lance Corporal Wendt was a proud Marine who served as a Lance Corporal in the 0311 Infantryman specialty field during the Vietnam War. His military service was marked by bravery and dedication, earning him numerous commendations, including the Combat Action Ribbon, a Purple Heart, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Vietnam Service medal with one star, and the Vietnam Campaign medal. His time in service also included completion of Reconnaissance School and Language School, underscoring his commitment and skill as a soldier. Unfortunately, he honorably retired due to combat injuries sustained while serving his country in Southeast Asia.
After completing his military career, John pursued his passion for art and design, earning a bachelor's degree and building a successful career as a graphic designer in the publishing industry. His creativity and artistic vision were evident in every project he undertook.
John shared a deep and abiding love with his wife, Jill Patricia Wendt. Their relationship was characterized by mutual support and companionship, as they complemented each other beautifully throughout their lives together.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Wendt, and his mother, Clara Galbraith. John's legacy will continue through his cherished memories and the love he imparted on those fortunate enough to have known him.
John's journey home will be a "Pony Express" honor run from Buckeye Arizona accompanied and escorted by the "Patriot Guard Riders" to Pikes Peak national Memorial cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he will be laid to rest on the 27th of August 2025 at 11:00 am. Military honors will be in order.
