John Laguna Gonzalez, affectionately known as "Johnny," passed away peacefully at his home in Phoenix, Arizona, on December 28, 2024, surrounded by love and comfort, particularly that of his beloved niece, Monica Rojas. Born on June 24, 1938 in Phoenix, Johnny lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and a deep passion for music.
With an impressive career spanning over thirty years in the pharmaceutical industry, Johnny exemplified dedication and hard work. He was not just a skilled professional; he was also a happy and witty individual whose personality could light up any room. His charisma and friendly disposition endeared him to many, making him a beloved figure in his community.
Johnny's love for music was one of the cornerstones of his life. He found immense happiness while playing in various bands, where his talents truly shined. Among his proudest accomplishments was learning to play the guitar and sharing a momentous occasion by meeting the legendary Carlos Santana and even having the honor of playing with him. These musical memories remained etched in his heart, a testament to his vibrant spirit.
His educational journey included some college, though it was in the experiences of life where he thrived. Johnny also served his country in the US Army for nine years, adding another layer of commitment to his character.
Johnny is survived by his son, Alex Gonzales, and his niece, Monica Rojas, who cherished every moment spent with him, especially as they created lifelong memories filled with laughter and music. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby Gonzales, and his son, Rocky Gonzales, both of whom will welcome him with open arms as they reunite.
A graveside service with military honors to honor and celebrate Johnny's life will be held on January 24, 2025, at Saint Francis Catholic Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering a man who lived fully and loved fiercely, leaving behind a legacy of joy, music, and the happiest of memories.
