Glen was born in Steven, MN to Margaret Whalen McGlynn and Howard Joseph McGlynn. As a young man he worked as a bell hop at the same hotel his father worked at and thus began his education in charming all those he knew.

He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1959. He served in Okinawa, Japan until 1963 and then boarded a ship that floated around Cuba for 94 days before the Cuba Crisis ended; completing his time in the military.

Upon returning to the States, Glen drove a truck for MN Iron & Steel, and Nodak Sales delivering beer throughout the eastern part of North Dakota.

Glen met the love of his life Donna Lee in November of 1963. They were married in June of 1964. They lived in Grand Forks, North Dakota where she worked at the Grand Forks Clinic. They had a son, David, born in 1965 and a daughter, Brenda, born in 1968. Glen’s family was the most important thing in his life. Glen loved going to the lake on weekends when he wasn’t working, watching sports on tv, or visiting family.

Glen always went where the work was. He and his family of four moved between North Dakota and Montana. Glen had several jobs working with laborers local 580 union. He became a general foreman working for Henry J Kaiser and Bechtel.

He always said when his children graduated high school, he would move to California. He and Donna spent two months living in Morro Bay, CA while he helped with the construction of the visitor’s center at Hearst Castle in CA. They moved to Bakersfield, CA spending one year there before moving to Tehachapi, California. Glen worked at the Air Force Base for Parsons for three years while Donna worked for Boeing.

They ran an AKC certified kennel in Sand Canyon for 15 years before moving to warmer climates in Buckeye, Arizona for the last 12 years.

Glen and Donna celebrated 59 years of marriage last year in June of 2023.

Glen was a storyteller and loved to share with anyone who would listen. When he ran out of stories he would start over like he never told you. Glen was strong in character and in his belief that life was precious.
