Gima De La Cruz Estrada Peacock, 76 of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. She was born on January 28, 1949 in Burabod, Kawayan, Biliran, Philippines to Nemesio Estrada and Paciona De La Cruz. Gima attended school at Burabad Elementary and University of Visayas, Cebu City and moved to Manila in 1963. While there she made life-long friends and met John B. Peacock, her husband of forty-seven years. Gima and John were married on December 2, 1968. They spent the early years of their marriage raising their children and living in both Manila and AZ. They settled in Phoenix, AZ permanently in 1977.
Gima's work life was spent at Steris Laboratories, and Dillards. She was an active member of the Filipino Community Center, Phoenix Phil-Am Lions Club, and St. Augustine's Catholic Church. Gima was never, "just an employee," or, "just a volunteer." She was the ringleader of fun and welcoming wherever she went. If you knew Gima, you knew her big smile and infectious laugh. She was first on the dance floor as well as being the clean-up crew leader, every time. She was the life and bringer of the party.
Gima had an innate sense of adventure and a thirst for travel. Gima was fearless, to gliding down a giant slip and slide to traveling across the globe by herself in her 70's. she was always up for anything. She loved spending time with friends and family which lead her to travel to almost every continentBeyond everything else, Gima was a friend and confidant. She practiced radical hospitality. Gima ensured that there was a seat at the table, a heaping plate of food, and a present under the tree for everyone in her orbit.
Gima's love for her family was both unconditional and unprecedented. In her latter years, she divided her time between the Philippines, Phoenix, Portland, and Oklahoma. Aside from her blood family Gima had quite an extensive "chosen" family. She was a mother and a grandmother to so many. She never met a stranger. She had an amazing ability to make people feel both welcomed and like they were blood family.
Gima was predeceased by John who passed away on June 13, 2015, and her eldest son Theodore Estrada who passed away on May 31, 2022. She is survived by her children: Maria Allen, Mickael Peacock, Rosemarie Peacock, Harold Peacock, and Margaret Crawford Peacock; her grandchildren: Theodore Johnathan Estrada, Christopher Estrada, Lonnie Estrada, Daniel Estrada, Sara Morris, Erica Benson, Lauren Thompson, Lindsay Dryer, Tyler Peacock, and Muriel Crawford Peacock; 19 great grandchildren; siblings Elisa Signorino, Editha Villanueva, and Nemesio Estrada, Jr; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and countless friends.
