Gilford Anton Wiley, fondly known as Tony, was born on July 9, 1936, in the serene town of Fisherville, Kentucky. He departed this world peacefully at home on August 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy woven into the hearts of many.

Tony lived a life that was shaped by his faith, deep-rooted in the teachings of God from a tender age. His journey began with a profound commitment when he gave his heart to the Lord at just nine years old. His unwavering devotion blossomed into meaningful service, delivering his first sermon at the Greenwood Church of the Nazarene at Pleasure Ridge Park in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of twelve. This early determination set the tone for a life spent not only as a devoted minister but also as a beloved father, grandfather, and friend.

Having graduated from Phoenix Technical School with an education focused on Industrial Electrical and Electronics, Tony embarked on a commendable career as an electrical contractor from 1963 until his retirement in 2021, at 85 years old. His craftsmanship and dedication were respected among peers and clients alike, but it was his gentle spirit and caring manner that truly touched those who knew him.

Tony’s world was vibrant, much like the African daisies and petunias he cherished nurturing in his yard. His green thumb transformed his home into a floral oasis, a space where hummingbirds darted playfully among the blooms he so deeply admired. Alongside his love for gardening, he had a special knack for cooking, creating banana pudding, coleslaw, and his famous mashed potatoes—dishes that brought warmth to family gatherings. During the joyous Christmas season, he delighted loved ones with his delicious peanut brittle, a much-anticipated holiday favorite.

Family was the cornerstone of Tony's life. He is survived by his loving brothers and sisters: Doris Davidson, Jane Carolyn Maddocks, Arnold Wiley, Katherine Burnham, William Wiley, Virginia Holmes, Kenneth Wiley, Raymond Wiley, and Jay Wiley. His spirit lives on through his dear children: Daniel (Richele) Marvin Wiley, Vera Wiley Meza (J.R.), J Jarrod Wiley (Nicole), and James Wiley (Marlene). He also leaves behind a legacy of laughter and love through his grandchildren: Michele Chapman (Mark), Eryn Wiley, Timothy Wiley (Veronica), Nathan Wiley, John Meza, Kenneth Wiley, Caleb Wiley, and Luke Wiley, along with his step-grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, and Tyler Daniels. The vibrant thread of his life continues with great-grandchildren Nicholas Chapman, Brandon Wiley, Ashlyn Wiley, Elijah Wiley, Owen Wiley, Bennett Wiley, and Madison Wiley.

Tony was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Beverly Carradine Wiley and Addie Mabel Heddens, as well as his cherished wife, Jane Elizabeth Wiley. His absence leaves a palpable void, yet his spirit will resonate through the memories shared and the lessons imparted upon those fortunate enough to have known him.

As we gather to honor his life, a viewing will be held at Hamblen Chapel Evangelical in Avondale, AZ, on August 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on August 23, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM at the same location. He will be laid to rest at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, Phoenix, AZ, at 12:00 PM.

Tony will be remembered not just for his accomplishments or the beauty he cultivated in life but for his profound impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. His love remains a guiding light, a testament to the richness of a life well-lived.
