With heavy hearts and enduring love, we announce the passing of Gerald Patrick De La O, who left this world on May 24th, 2025, in Peoria, Arizona, at the age of 54.Born on July 1, 1970, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Gerald was a man of profound character, deep generosity, and an unmatched zest for life.
He was the beloved son of Roger (father) and Racheal (mother).Gerald was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Rebecca De La O and a proud father to Aiden, his son. Gerald was blessed with a daughter Anita Aniyah 3 weeks before his passing. His had a great love for his step-children Tommy, Kenny, Yesenia, Javier, and Santiago Loya-Dominguez. Gerald was a cherished brother to Joseph (Suzann), Raul (Katheryn), Robert (Crystal), and sister Lisa Lucero and an uncle to many nephews and nieces. His circle of love extended to his in-laws Kathy, Jessica, Ruben, and Lorena Dominguez, Monte and Curtis Neff (best friends), and Jamie Garcia De La O (friend and ex-wife) all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Gerald was preceded in death by his biological mother, Anita Lupe Gerald earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business and carved out a dynamic career as a business owner, chef, executive of hospitality, and Director of Finances. He was a leader, a provider, and a visionary who thrived in every role he took on - both professionally and personally.
A man of many passions, Gerald found joy in riding his motorcycle, sharing meals he lovingly cooked, and fully embracing the beauty of life. But what truly defined him wasn't just what he did, it was how he did it. With love. With strength. With a heart big enough to carry others, even when he carried burdens of his own.
His journey into fatherhood came through life's unpredictable turns, but Gerald never wavered. He faced challenges with resilience, showing up time and again for those he loved. He gave more than he ever asked for. He encouraged, supported, and believed in people — often before they believed in themselves.
He was the person you could count on, day or night, in moments of need, or moments you didn't even know you needed someone. He didn't just survive; he lived, and he lit up every room he walked into. His laugh, his warmth, and his unshakable spirit made every gathering brighter and every memory sweeter. Even in death, Gerald continues to give. Through the gift of organ donation, he gave three others a second chance at life — a final act of selflessness that perfectly encapsulates who he was.
We'll come together to share stories, laughter, and the legacy of love he left behind. Food, drinks, and fellowship will mark the day - with a special balloon release to send our thoughts to the sky in his memory. Let us remember Gerald not in sorrow, but in joy - for the love he gave, the life he lived, and the light he brought into ours. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in every life he touched. Forever riding free, forever in our hearts.
