Edward "Eddie" Wieczkiewicz died September 30, 2024, near his home in Litchfield Park, AZ. To his family and friends, he was known as Ed or Eddie. Ed was the first born to Edward Anthony and Helen Carolyn Wieczkiewicz in New York City on May 1, 1956. His family moved to Arizona in 1962 where Ed spent the rest of his life. He attended Hopi Elementary School (’70), Arcadia High School (’74), and Arizona State University (’86) where he earned a degree in Computer Science.
Ed was a kind soul who excelled at just about everything he attempted. Athletics, music, art, you name it. He worked as a professional golfer for most of his career, working at the Junior Golf Association of Arizona, head pro and director of instruction, at golf courses around the Phoenix Metropolitan area. A patient and kind instructor, Ed taught golf to many at Scottsdale Country Club, Palm Valley, Estrella Mountain Ranch and Luke Air Force base golf courses. He had an analytical mind and wrote a book about golf entitled “Golf, the (W)hole Game”. Being mostly self-taught at piano, Ed wrote many beautiful songs. As a child, he won an award for designing a “house of the future” and created painted works that hung on the walls of his family home in Phoenix.
Ed is missed by his family and survived by his wife of 28 years, Stephanie, his brothers, Matthew and Mark, sister, Janet, nephew and godson Tedric, his wife Kelly, and grandnieces, Hazel and Piper. Ed’s parents, Edward and Helen Wieczkiewicz and his nephew, Oliver preceded him in death.
A holy Mass will be said for his intention on May 1, 2025 at St Hedwig Catholic Church in Los Alamitos, California. Please pray for the repose of his kind soul. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 15th at 4:00 PM at Christ Church or the Ascension (in the parish hall) located at 4015 E. Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley.
